DESTINY

A thoroughbred/Welsh cross. She has had a few foals in her life hence her big (actually, enormous!) belly – She is a 32 year old bay mare and stands 15hh. She was a very useful, safe pony in her day but is feeling her age and has dodgy tendons so is no longer ridden.

SLEEPY

She is a 25 year old bay Welsh mountain pony (Welsh section A). She stands at 11.2hh and has been in a private home teaching children to ride - she came to us when her riders outgrew her. She is very sweet and has become a firm favourite.

MAGIC

He is now 37 yrs young and needs lots of warming up as he gets very stiff. He is another grey Welsh mountain pony (Welsh section A). He is 12.2hh and was a great pony to teach the younger children to canter on. Believe it or not, Magic was born black and used to be called Black Magic!

CLOUD

A 12hh grey Welsh Mountain pony (section A) who is 18 years old. Cloud came from a local riding school with Lola. She is great for the children learning to groom as she will stand happily for ages while they groom her and plait her long mane.

MICKEY

A 14hh, 24 year old bay gelding. He is a New Forest pony and was used for lots of pony club activities before he came to us. He has been there and done that and but due to an old tendon injury can’t do all that he used to be able to so is now looking for a quieter life at Rangers, where he is on permanent loan.

LOLA

A 17 year old trotter cross (possibly crossed with an Arab) who stands at 14.1hh. Lola came from a local riding stable with Cloud so knows her job well. She has a 'wall' eye which means she has one blue and one brown eye

DUDLEY

A 17 year old Welsh Cob who stands at 14.2hh. He has been there and done that and got the t-shirt and is a fabulous addition to the Ranger family where he is ridden by the junior and senior children.

PIXIE

Pixie is a sweet but sometimes cantankerous 25 year old chestnut Shetland pony. She was neglected before being bought by her last owner and had extremely overgrown feet – think Turkish slippers……very sad. We don't ride her but enjoy giving her lots of TLC.

BUBBLES

A 26 year old Welsh section B pony. He is 13hh and had been with the same family for many years but they outgrew him. He is a really nice chap but he can be quite forward going so is mainly used for seniors. He is a blue roan and has a wall eye which means that one of his eyes is blue.

ROLO

A 13hh piebald gelding aged 31. Rolo was in a riding school for 11 years before we bought him and has turned out to be a fabulous pony. He is a Welsh section B and does everything. He is a real gentleman both on the ground and ridden and is a favourite with both juniors and seniors.

PHOENIX

A 34 year old, 15hh grey Connemara gelding. He led a full life at a local riding stables where he was a true schoolmaster. He is now looking for a quieter life. Due to his gentle and very steady nature he is used by juniors.

BERTIE

A 15.2hh 29 year old, traditional piebald Welsh cob. Bertie was in the same home for 12 years in Yorkshire before we bought him and has a proven record of teaching novices to ride. He has a lovely nature and seems to really love people. As age is now catching up on him, he is only ridden by the juniors.

DREW

A beautiful 12.3hh palomino, Welsh mountain pony (Welsh Section A). Drew has ‘been there and done that’ before joining Rangers. He is 23 years old and is a big hit with everyone, being ridden by juniors and seniors.

MOLLY

Molly is a 14.2hh Irish Cob who is 20 years old. She arrived with fabulous feathers on her legs but we had to remove them due to the Ranger mud. She is mainly ridden by the senior rangers.

TEST

Full name Balmoral Test is one of the Duke of Edinburghs ex-driving ponies. He is a 23 year old Fell pony who has a mind of his own! He is tends to be overweight so we are working on getting his weight down and his fitness up. He can be a bit grumpy so is just used by seniors.

LADY

A 22 year old, 15hh cob mare who is very steady and safe to ride. She was with the same owner for 8 years but had to be moved on when her owners circumstances changed. She loves hacking out but is not so keen on being ridden in the menage.

OAKIE

A 22 year old ex-eventer who stands at 16.3hh so is our tallest horse! Oakie is an Irish Sports horse and is a really nice chap. He is very polite on the yard and is ridden by the older seniors as he is so big.

ARNA

Arna is a 12.3hh, 18 year old Welsh section A. She is very pretty with a beautiful long mane which the children like to practice their plaiting skills on. She is a lovely safe pony for juniors and seniors to learn to ride on.

BLACK JACK

A 22 year old, 15hh Friesian who competed in dressage to a very high level before retiring and coming to Rangers. He is a quality, well trained horse and moves beautifully. He can be quite strong so is just used for seniors.

JACK

A 12.2hh grey Welsh Mountain pony (section A) who is 21 years old. He has been passed around from home to home and can be very nervous but is a great little chap for smaller seniors to improve their riding skills on.

RED

A 13.2hh, 28 year old New Forest pony who has come from the pony club circuit. He looks very like a mini version of Mickey! Red is a firm favourite with the more competent seniors. He only has one speed which is fast!

K (full name Kahlua)

A 15.1hh, 22 year old chestnut Irish Sports horse. He has been there and got the t-shirt so is a great fit for Rangers. He is a perfect gentleman and is a firm favorite. Due to his height he is mainly ridden by seniors.

JASMINE

A 13hh, 16 year old Welsh section B pony. She is hogged as she suffers from sweet itch. She was in a riding school then went out on loan for a while. She loves people and is very well behaved on the ground and when ridden. Jasmine is ridden by juniors and seniors.

DOLLY

A 16hh, 20 year old cob cross. She was in a riding school which closed down and she has done very little over the past two years so we are bringing her back into work very slowly. So far she has been very sweet with excellent manners.

SALLY

A 13.2hh, 19 year old Welsh Section B mare. She is very sweet and we think she will become a firm favorite with all the Rangers. She hasn't done much work recently so we will are starting her off very slowly.

OXFORD

A 17hh, 19 year old ex police horse. Oxford is an Irish sports horse has retired from the mounted police where he spent the last few years teaching the cadets how to ride. He is a beautiful boy who will be perfect for teaching the older children.
